Made for Red Means Recording February 2025 challenge: "Liminal Music". Our protagonist has been stranded in an orbital facility that is tearing itself apart. They find themselves in a small pocket with air and supplies where they can gather themselves and plan for escape.
The digital noise was made by pasting this image taken by the James Webb Space Telescope into an emulator of the Russian photoelectronic ANS synth, then using the output in Arturia Pigments granular mode with a lot of modulation.
Lots of other crazy stuff thrown in here. I don't know how about 75% of the sounds get generated at this point :D
The high lead is from Arturia's Augmented MALLETS. Strings are from a soundfont (see last month's challenge).
Other noise/ambience from: Tim Conrardy's Cygnus, some minivan road noise I sampled on my cell phone, a diaphragm pump sample from the BBC, and some radio static.
